FROM PASTOR VIRGIL

Small Groups Are A Big Thing @ Family Church

Small Groups are a big thing here at family church.  Why?  Well, just think about that question for a moment.  Jesus teaches us that we are His “family”.  Jesus said that He came and died for His church “family”.  The Bible says that this was Jesus’ plan well in advance of us even being here on Earth.  Look at what Ephesians says…

Ephesians 1:5 (NLT)
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Being a part of God’s family brings Him pleasure.  So think about that for a moment.  What if in your earthly family you were to only see your family members ONCE A WEEK.  Say you only saw your earthly family for one meal a week?  You only had lunch with your mom, dad, brother, sister one day a week.  Then, you never saw them again for the entire week, until the next Sunday lunch?  Do you think you would have a very healthy family experience?  (ok…I HAVE to answer this for you…NO!)

How can we possibly think we will have a positive experience with God’s family if we only are a part of His family ONE TIME A WEEK?

Being a part of a community group is not an option if we expect to know other people, and to be known by other people.  If you ever feel like you’re disconnected and no-one knows you, then you need to find your way to a small group.  We have a number of new groups rolling out in a few weeks, and as your Pastor I am encouraging EVERYONE to sign up and get involved in one.

Please, feel free to email me if you have any questions, and I am so excited to see our church continue to grow as a body of believers.

God bless you and we’ll see you soon in a Small Group.

Pastor Virgil

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

The Beatitudes

Through this series based on the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, Pastor Virgil looks at what God says about our happiness. Come learn how humility can affect our happiness and look at ways to heal a broken heart in a message on grief. Also learn how Jesus teaches how you can control your reactions, how to find peace, the secret of satisfaction and how giving can make life happier. Finally, we will focus on how to develop a pure heart and how to handle harassment for our faith.

This is going to be an exciting time of growth in your life and in the life of our church.  You cannot afford to miss any of these life-changing messages for the New Year.
